Intertextual Analysis of Malik Ashtar's Covenant in Nahj al-Balagha with the Conduct of Kings in Gulistan from the Perspective of Governance Based on Genette's Theory

Abstract
Intertextuality is one of the common terms today in the field of literature and art that deals with the relationship between texts and their criticism. Its main founder and theorist was Kristeva, and the most famous figure was Genette; however, Genette, in a different way and by coining the term transtextuality, identified and expanded the types of relationships between texts. According to Genette's theory, intertextuality is observed in three forms: explicit, implicit, and implied. Nahj al-Balagha is one of the influential texts in subsequent works, and Saadi is one of the writers and poets who has used the themes and wisdom of this book in writing Gulistan. This research examines the similarities in the field of politics and principles of proper governance in "Letter 53 of Nahj al-Balagha" addressed to Malik Ashtar and the chapter "On the Conduct of Kings" from Gulistan; this research was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and through comparative analysis and providing evidence from the two selected texts. The aim of the present research was to analyze the intertextual relationships of these two texts based on Genette's theory and to determine the extent to which Saadi benefited from the theme of this letter. Saadi's influence in this chapter of Gulistan was mostly of the implicit intertextuality type, accompanied by allusion, expressed in the form of anecdotes.
