Abstract
Western Shi ’a studies begin in nineteen century, and continue in twentieth century seriously and orderly. The first methodology of These researches was subjective because of modernity and colonialism conditions, so were not detecting Truth about Shi’ism ;For example historicism of Montgomery Watt that researches about historical time of shi’ism . But some of western philosophies introduce the method of phenomenology in twenty one century; This method has a post colonialism approach. Henry Corbin is a phenomenologist and researches about context of shi’ism. His researches
result contrary of researches of Watt. The methodology of Mircea Eliade is phenomenology of history . this method results better than Watt’s historicism and Corbin’s phenomenology because phenomenology of history researches about both of shi’ism’s time and context. This article survey methods of historicism, phenomenology, and phenomenology
of history in Western Shi ’a studies.
